For today’s blog, let me tell you about how Journey4Us engaged into the Charity Bazaar at Coconut Park last 4th June 2022.

Despite our busy daily schedules, we were grateful to be able to somehow raise funds for the charity. Thank you to the event organizer, Zoriana Myburg for welcoming us and giving us space for the said event.

So here’s what we did for the Charity Bazaar.

  1. Planning– Chris, came up with an idea for us to prepare a game for the children. He also mentioned buying prizes and that whatever would be left, we both can still use them to give to our students for the end of the school year. So pretty much, it won’t go to waste.
  2. Buying prizes – Many people were asking me where I bought all the prizes. Well, in Phnom Penh, there’s only one place to go. The Orrusey Market. Yes, I went to the market again after three years. Oh wow! What a fun place to be with if you just ignore how it smells. The amount of money you are saving definitely pays off the odour you will be encountering. Doesn’t matter in the end. So for the prizes, I went crazy and bought tons. I was thinking, that could be our year’s supplies of toys for any events to come.
  3. Packing the prizes – Arriving home from Orrusey Market, I got too excited to pack all those tokens. I got a kilo of small ziplock bags just because it has been raining in Phnom Penh. Original plan was to use paper bags, though it won’t match the weather. I made sure we used a minimal amount of plastic ziplocks and I believe the parents are responsible enough to find ways to reuse those bags. I also advised the children to keep their toys in that bag for as long as possible. So yes, I packed 300pieces of tiny ziplock bags for the prizes and the bags have either of the following:
  1. Packing set-up stuff – We also prepared the following
  1. Traveling to the venue – Since we got bulky stuff, we hailed a giant tuktuk to the Coconut Park. Great thing the driver was helpful, kind, and polite. It was a tuktuk ride to remember.
  2. Setting up our station – It was I guess smart that we opted for this kind of game. It didn’t involve much preparation, yet we were able to raise funds as children, their parents, and everyone else while having a good time. After like 2minutes of setting up we were ready to start.
  3. Game should start- Yes, immediately we had our players queuing to play and it was beautiful seeing happy faces that time. Our game station ran from 3:45- 8:00pm. It was a blast!
  4. Packing- Cleaning up- Yes! it reached to a point of cleaning up and we were delighted that we were able to help on that. Once all was done, we called a tuktuk and went home.
  5. Checking the fund we were able to raise – Yes! The most exciting part of the night I would say. We were elated that we were able to raise a decent amount for the charity. We felt profoundly fulfilled and grateful. The fact that we were able to make the children and their parents happy, plus we were able to help people in intense need, we can only be thankful for that.
  6. Call it a day- After a strenuous day, we all rested and that kind of rest we had after the full day event was one of the nights I will always remember. It was one of those nights, that’s worth remembering.

There you go everyone! That’s basically how our major philanthropic activity happened. We would like to thank everyone who aided us in making this event a beautiful, and a successful one. Definitely this won’t be our last.

Journey4Us Charity Bazaar engagement was a tremendous success, and we want to thank you for that!
