Reflecting on an Incredible Medical Mission
You read it right, Nurse Volunteer for a day.
I had the incredible opportunity to participate as a volunteer nurse in the Health Day Medical Mission and Blood Letting Event at the Philippine Embassy last February 18, 2024. I am still overwhelmed by the success of the event and the privilege it was to serve the community in the best way possible.
Headed by SAMAPI, the Filipino Community in Cambodia, and supported by the Prime Phnom Penh Eagles Club, and the Philippine Embassy in Cambodia; this event was not just about providing medical services but also a celebration of National Cancer Awareness Month. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of raising awareness and taking proactive steps towards better health. The main thing my family and I focus on these days.
As a volunteer nurse, I witnessed firsthand the impact we made on people’s lives. From conducting medical consultations to administering necessary treatments, we worked tirelessly to provide the best care possible. It was heartwarming to see the gratitude and relief on the faces of those we helped. It was a privilege to assist the staff of RK Premier Hospital during the event. It was also a great opportunity to see the Filipino nurses who are committed to their profession at the Kingdom of Cambodia. Must I say, I made new acquaintances which I am certain I will meet and collaborate with again.
The blood letting event was another significant aspect of the day. The act of donating blood can save lives, and it was inspiring to witness the selflessness of individuals who stepped forward to contribute. The collective effort of the community truly made a difference, and I felt honored to be a part of it. This literally gave me a tremendous dejavu of my previous experiences back in the Philippines. Oh how time flies!
This medical mission was a call of duty that will forever be etched in my heart. The camaraderie among the volunteers, the resilience of the patients, and the unwavering support from the community were all testaments to the power of unity and compassion. The so called “Bayanihan” which literally means “Heroism” was prominently obvious on that day. Everybody was there for one cause; “to help”.
Looking back on this experience, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunity to serve and make a positive impact. The success of this event motivates me to continue dedicating myself to the cause of health and wellness. I eagerly await the next Health and Wellness Event, where we can once again come together to serve our community with utmost dedication and care.
Until then, I will carry the memories of this medical mission as a reminder of the incredible impact we can make when we join hands for a common cause. Together, we can create a happier, healthier and harmonic world.
Here at Journey4Us, we look forward to the next Medical Mission. Do you want to join us next time?
