We all can’t deny the fact that the COVID19 pandemic has impacted and changed our lives for almost a year now.  Teachers’ lives weren’t not an exception.  As a teacher, I normally wear professional looking shoes that match my professional outfit.  When teachers were asked to report to school to facilitate online learning to our students, I wanted to wear something less formal yet still appropriate for work, and the problem was, I didn’t have shoes that would match my less formal outfit.  I then opted to report to work with my “formal teacher look”, and yes! one of my co-teachers did say “ wow, you look so formal today”. I did feel too overdressed among everybody else, and I did respond “ yeah, I don’t have casual shoes that I can use for work”.  Then I got a lot of recommendations of where to get shoes here in Phnom Penh, but the problem was, I was not able to find what I love.

My fetish about shoes started in 2014.  I used to wear shoes that everybody else’s wore before, but not anymore.  Right now, everything about shoes matter to me.  For me, my shoes need to be comfortable, well fitted, simple yet elegant, and most important thing is, they have to reflect who and what I am; so they should exude the spirit of fun and confidence.  To find these kinds of shoes in Cambodia is not easy, unless you are willing to pay $100 or up to avail such a pair with those qualities.  I was in awe when I came across the brand SANUK, not only because of how gorgeous they look, but their slogan that says “Never Uncomfortable”, perfectly describes their products!  These shoes are made in Hong Kong and are packed in Vietnam, and are distributed worldwide.  Check out the story of how SANUK started.
