7th January is Cambodia’s Victory Day
Hello everyone! Welcome to my first blog for 2022 called Victory Day. Before I proceed, I would love to wish you all a Happy New Year! I am hoping that your celebration was as beautiful as mine.
Cambodia marked 7th January as Victory over Genocide Day. Having lived in Cambodia for more than a decade, there’s nothing else I can do during days like this but to send all my well wishes to the country and its people.
As we embark the new year 2022, many of us are hoping for the best to come into our lives. In my case, I always hold on to the belief of
“Looking back leads you to a better path”.

As we commemorate Victory Day today, it also made me think that victory prevails in many other ways, and exists with many different reasons.
Take a pause right now. Look back to how your life has been, and realize how victorious you have been.
If you haven’t figured it out, you may proceed and answer the following questions. These questions will guide you to realize how victorious and triumphant you are in so many little ways. Here they go:
- Are you able to provide the needs of your loved ones?
- Are you able to perform your duties as expected by your superior?
- Are you able to keep a healthy body, mind, and well being?
- Are you able to keep track and pay bills due?
- Do you experience joy in little things?
- Are you able to build healthy relationships with people around you?
- Are you able to express the real you?
- Are you able to inspire people around you to be better?
- Do you feel safe within your surroundings?
- Do you function without fear of being judged?
Those are my 10 personal Victory Day questions to all my followers.
Having YESes as answers signals how triumphant we all are in tiny little things. Those tiny little things we normally take for granted, yet at the end matter most. If you found yourself not able to answer a YES to those questions, there’s nothing much to worry. Start acting today, and recompose how you are dealing life. As we all know the cliche;
“Every day is a new chance. Grab it!”

If you are going to ask me, “YES!”, I am feeling the victory as I live. It’s beautiful to look back how someone like myself is able to overcome challenges in life. That overcoming challenges indeed make someone feel victorious. Wars, weapons and attacks associate most of the times to what we know as victory. Can’t it be more simple these days? Can self realization, enlightenment, and self love highlights victory in our lives? I believe yes, if we all give ourselves a chance to do so.
Victory I believe brings us all happiness, peace, and security. Let’s all start kicking this year with the aim for victory.
This is diary entry #1 for our 2022 series. Signing off.
