Stuff Teachers Need to Prepare for Back to School 2021

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year 2021 from Journey4Us

I wish you all a Happy New Year!  I have been too busy with my family which was brilliant and I still have something I want to upload before 2020 ends.  So, that will be uploaded soon here.  Basically it was just my 2020 Flash Back which I already created a youtube video about.  But if you may not have known yet, I love to writing more and I would love to keep track of all my youtube videos, making sure I have a written blog counterpart of each videos I upload as much as possible.  See that, I love pushing limits. Hahaha Anyway yes, that’s why journey4us is here.  For me to keep records of how my journey is, and I am always hoping that you can join me, by subscribing to this blog, which is free, or just simply leaving me comments in the box.  If you are my follower here you may have a chance to get some free stuff like PDF or editable forms that I use for some of my online work.  You never know, your first message can lead to something worthwhile for both parties, so subscribe on my mail list now. 🙂

Okay, so for today’s blog I will be giving tips to all teachers worldwide about the stuff or things we all need to prepare before we go back to school or at work on Monday, 11th January 2021.  Yes!  We had longer holidays compared to some but I hope you will receive this blog on time.  So if you are ready, here are my

TOP THINGS TEACHERS NEED TO PREPARE for 2021 BACK TO SCHOOL DAY!

1.BODY– Yes! Our body.  After almost 3 weeks of eating and drinking whatever we want, staying up late and enjoying Netflix and Chill mode, and getting up earliest probably is 12 noon for my case, I do advise us all to prepare our body for the back to work days!  So under here I would say, we all need to

  • DETOX– drink your water teachers!

    Healthy Food Ready
  • SLEEP– Get your normal sleeping patterns back.  Not a day before your work, but now!  Atleast like five days before your frist day back to work.  I will do the same.  I am not very good at it, but I am trying really hard!
  • EAT– I have already started to get ou healthy eating habits for three days now.  I have promised myself not to be eating oily food anytime soon, and I will be going to the market again for some bulk fruits and vegetables shopping to prepare us for the work mode.

2. MATERIALS– School and work materials need to be ready.  These are:

  • STUDENTS’ NAMES– Check your students list and try to say their names once again after a long time.  Many teachers here in Cambodia find it challenging to remember or recall Cambodian names as they are normally like Rathanak, Sovann, Sotheroth, and many more.  I have been here for thirteen years and I still find it challenging to recall students’ names after a long break from work.  So yeah, teachers, practice calling out your students names now.
  • LESSON PLAN– Well, hello there lesson plan! Hahaha, yes, just try to embrace the fact that we will all be writing our lesson plans again, and ofcourse prepare it in a way that it will help us.  I am writing mine now.  Again, I don’t want to have “wing it days” on 2021.  If you are having problem with this, you may leave a comment and maybe we can plan make lesson plans together.
  • LAST MEETING AGENDA– Reviewing the last meeting agenda will guide us all on where we should be on our first day back to school.  Take down notes of the things you find unclear from the previous meetings and open those concerns you have up with your principal making sure that you are in the same boat as how it should be.  Also, the way to take notes down will be up to you.  I am an old fashioned teacher regarding that, and I love jotting down on my notebook or a piece of paper.  You can also utilize some notepad app if you wish.  I have that too, but I prefer paper and pen when it comes to work. 🙂
  • EMAILS and PASSWORDS– After a 3 week holiday there is a big chance we could forget our passwords.  Have you?   Well, I have forgotten one time, so I believe never again.  Lesson learnt!
  • ONLINE PLATFORMS– Depending ofcourse what your school requires you to do, this could be optional.  However, since I do want to be totally prepared,, I am already planning to double check my google classroom and zoom details, just in case this will be used again.
Clothes and Grooming Check

3.PHYSICAL FACTORS– These physical factors are the extrinsic things that I consider worth checking for.  Under this category I have:

  • CLOTHES– After all the eating and feast, are your clothes still fitting for you?  If not, you still have time to grab at least 1 or 2 sets of clothes.  Don’t buy too many because you also want to get back into shape.  I mean, I want.  I have also gained weight during my days off but then again, I am focusing on being healthy and keeping myself busy physically, so I think sooner or later I will lose all those unwanted fats if they call it that way. Haha
  • BAGS– This isn’t just a women thing.  What I meant here is that we should all clean our bags.  Ahahah, disinfect and prepare an extra bag that you will change during the middle of the week.  Since this covid 19 pandemic, I have already made it a point to change my bags every Wednesday just for sanitation purposes.  I also make it a point to disinfect my shoes everyday.  Again, this is not only for covid19 protection but I just figured it is just more hygienic.  If you want to join me in this craze, then welcome to the club. 🙂
  • COVID 19 PARAPHERNALIA– Yes, nowadays the new normal as they all say.  Masks, hand gel, face shields, or whatever it is that your school requires.  Have those ready and fully stocked up in your bag.  Welcome to the new year of 2021 with our daily costumes.  This area doesn’t need much explanation I would say.
  • HEALTHY FOOD– Yes, one of the most important thing I would love to emphasize is that we teachers need to stay healthy, and so bringing our own food to work simply means that we are taking good care of our selves.  I don’t know about you but in our school area these is no place where we can get healthy and great food, so for me to prepare this is actually a need.  Are you then like me?  Let me know.  For the first week, I have already prepared hummus, crackers, beans, potatoes, fruits and vegetables.  I will post as much as I can, but actually I always post on my facebook account about what types of food I prepare or eat everyday.  So if you want to connect with me on there click this image to lead you to my page

  • TRANSPORTATION APP– Yes, here in Cambodia, many teachers rely on GRAB.  Checking this app atleast a day before we get back to work is a need.  Last time I missed it and of course I had mishaps on my way to school.  Another lesson learnt that I would love to share with you all.  Get those APPS working accurately!

4. MENTAL READINESS– I believe in the power of mind, and I always consider the brain as the main source of how you do things.  Like if you want to get ready, you can only be once your mind has started functioning or started thinking about what you should be doing or get ready for.  How do we do it?  Reading or watching something motivational helps.  If not, then maybe a little time for meditation can help.  I have done that before and I believe it is working.  If you think you need a little recommendation for this, please do send me a personal message so we can start working it together.  But yes, self meditation is an option so that we all can:

  • ACCEPT the fact that normal work more is back
  • Be GRATEFUL with the break that we just had
  • LOOK FORWARD to seeing our students once again and colleagues
  • MOTIVATE ourselves to do our best everyday at work and that it has to start on our first day

5. EMOTIONALLY This goes along with mental readiness.  I know it is going to be a little emotional, especially maybe for parents like me to go back to work which means doing less of the household chores and less time seeing our children on a day to day basis.  Again, we all just need to remember that life is a series of cycles that goes round and round, up and down.  Having a steady emotion before going back to work can avoid bad days or negative emotions if we are facing our students.  Prepare your selves teachers, just like what I am doing now.  At the end, we all are here to inspire, encourage, and motivate as many people as we can.  If we have overcome 2020 well, 2021 will definitely just be like a walk in the park.

Last thing I want to remind our selves is to reset those ALARMS we all have avoiding tardiness on the very first day of work this 2021.  That’s it from me today guys and I would love to close this blog by saying,

” We don’t need a new year to recreate ourselves to be better.  We do strive to be better everyday to make sure that every new year counts!”

Have a good day to you all and I wish we will all have a wonderful start of 2021 at work!

Have fun!
